Color In Uniform
Have you ever wondered why certain colors are associated with specific professions? Why, for instance, do surgeons and doctors always wear blue and green scrubs? And why do corporate leaders wear black? The answer has to do with the emotive qualities of colors and how they affect us. Blue and green are soothing, peaceful hues and are known to cause feelings of relaxation. Hospitals are stressful places for doctors, nurses, and their patients, and the subtle visual cues help everyone stay a bit calmer in what can often be a difficult situation. Black has traditionally been the color of authority, and let’s face it, a black-robed judge can cut a truly imposing figure. Purple, the color of royalty, signifies a different type of authority, the authority of leadership, and as of late has taken precedence as the color of choice for presidential ties. In fact, whenever you see a uniform, you can be quite sure that there is a good reason behind the choice of color.
